Interior Detailing vs. Basic Cleaning

A quick car-wash wipe-down and a professional interior detail aren't the same service. Here's exactly what changes, technique by technique.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Vacuuming

Basic Wash

Quick pass on seats and floor mats

Pro Interior Detail

Full vacuum — seats, mats, trunk, under seats, between cushions, vents

Carpets & Upholstery

Basic Wash

Wiped or spot-sprayed

Pro Interior Detail

Hot water extraction lifts embedded dirt, stains, and odors from fibers

Leather Seats

Basic Wash

Wiped with a general-purpose spray

Pro Interior Detail

pH-balanced cleaner + leather conditioner to restore softness and prevent cracking

Plastics, Vinyl & Dash

Basic Wash

Surface wipe-down

Pro Interior Detail

Steam cleaned in seams and vents, then dressed with a non-greasy UV protectant

Glass

Basic Wash

Outside only

Pro Interior Detail

Streak-free interior + exterior, including the often-missed top of the windshield

Odors & Pet Hair

Basic Wash

Not addressed

Pro Interior Detail

Steam neutralizes odors at the source; specialized tools lift embedded pet hair

The Techniques That Matter

Steam Cleaning

High-temperature steam dissolves grime in vents, seams, and stitching without saturating fabrics. It also kills bacteria and neutralizes odors — something a spray-and-wipe can't do.

Hot Water Extraction

Injects a cleaning solution into carpets and upholstery, then immediately extracts it with the lifted dirt. This is how we pull years of embedded soiling out of fabric seats and floor carpets.

Leather Conditioning

After a pH-balanced clean, a proper conditioner replenishes the oils that keep leather soft and prevent cracking — extending the life of your seats.

When to Choose a Full Interior Detail

  • Pet hair, food spills, or lingering odors
  • Selling or trading in your vehicle
  • First detail after winter salt and slush
  • Leased vehicle approaching turn-in inspection
  • Allergies — deep cleaning removes embedded dust and dander
